International students

In Nordfyns there is a tradition of Japanese students because the school was founded more than 20 years ago by a Japanese, Tadao Chiba, who settled down in Denmark and got interested in democracy, welfare society and inclusion of minorities in Denmark – being very different from Japan.

So today you always meet Japanese students studying mostly Danish social welfare and health. Beside some of them learn Danish at language school. Moreover you also normally meet students from other Asian countries and from East and Central-European countries like Poland, Latvia, Lithuania and Czech Republic.

Other classes at our school:

  • Life class - predominantly mentally handicapped students.
  • Social and health class - predominantly Japanese students.
  • Life style class focusing on weight reduction.
  • General Class - preparing for job or further education.

Some foreign students use the course as social pedagocial training with
handicapped people. Both in theory and pratice you can learn a lot.

”Actually I was not known about this type of school and even not found in Latvia too. I got the information from a Swedish girl through an e-mail and got interested on joining Nordfyns Folkehøjskole.

I like the school very much with new friends. I get here to understand myself through the potentials I can exploit from the lessons provided here. I came to know why all those things happened to me with the reasoning being together as a valuable moment in my life.

I got to know different opinions, to know more culture how different people live like Danish, Japanese. One of the best things I ever experienced because we work ourselves for ourselves and I know more actually what I want so could change myself here-after.

“Nordfyns is a place where you can meet people from different places in variation of age, experience, ability, culture and so on. Learning Danish Social Welfare System is something I got more that I deserved comparing to Japanese one.

“For me, I really leveled up in my life more than I was there in Japan and knew the importance and proper use of time. By the help of take the future I hope everybody could make connection through any means and medium to anyone else in very perfect way.”
